Jeffrey Kyle Burns, 46, passed away unexpectedly August 20, 2006 along with his canine companion Lucy. Jeff was born in Akron, Ohio August 2, 1960. He was a 1979 graduate of Copley High School. Jeff was taught the skill of meat cutting by his father, Kirbie, at a young age. Jeff used these skills throughout his life in various ventures, the latest being Hillside Meats and Pigs Do Fly Catering. Jeff was preceded in death by his grandfather Kirbie F. Burns, Sr. He is survived by his daughter Heather M. Burns, his parents Kirbie and Effie (Fluty) Burns, brothers Kent (Susie) Burns and Kris (Kim) Burns, sister Kelly (Tony) Vitrano, grandparents Roger and Louise Gilbert, nephews and nieces Kent Kirbie, Andrew and Kasey Burns and Anthony and Gabrielle Vitrano. Cremation has taken place. In celebration of Jeff's life, friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Road, on Sunday, August 27 from 12-3 PM. No flowers please. In lieu of flowers make donations to your favorite charity.

Cause of Death: Motorcycle Accident.Kyle and Lucy were taking part in a motorcyle Poker Run for a local charity when he rounded a bend in the road and hit a pickup truck or van head-on. He and Lucy were killed instantly. It was thought that, possibly Lucy moved or began to slip on the cycle and Kyle moved to catch her and lost control.

NOTE: Kyle was a good friend of my wife and I. My wife worked with him for awhile. Kyle owned Hillside Meats in Hartville, Ohio. He was a very honest businessman and had the respect of all who knew him. We didn't find out about his death with Lucy for a week after the accident. My wife and I were devistated. Kyle will TRUELY be missed because, when you did business with him, you just gained another friend if you wanted one or not. That's the way he was. I feel double sadness as the date that Kyle and Lucy died, August 20th, is also my birthday.
